Fatehpur Sikri was the magnificent capital city built by Emperor Akbar in 1571 but abandoned after only 14 years — most likely due to water scarcity. Today it is a perfectly preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site, often called the "ghost city" because it was deserted while still in pristine condition.
Yes — this is a very popular combination. You can add a Taj Mahal visit at the start of the day (we arrive before 8 AM to beat crowds). The combined Taj Mahal + Agra Fort + Fatehpur Sikri itinerary is a full 10–12 hour day. Let us know at booking and we will customise accordingly.
Entry tickets are not included. Agra Fort costs approximately INR 650 for foreign nationals; Fatehpur Sikri costs INR 610. Your guide will arrange tickets at each site. Both sites have well-maintained pathways and facilities.
Fatehpur Sikri is located approximately 40 km from Agra City (about 1 hour by road). It is conveniently visited after Agra Fort on the same day, making the two sites a perfect pairing for a full-day outing from Delhi.
There is no strict dress code for these monuments, but modest attire (covered shoulders and knees) is appreciated, especially inside the mosque at Fatehpur Sikri (Jama Masjid). Shoes must be removed before entering the mosque area — socks are fine.
